
What SFG mentors do
SFG mentors guide students through every step of the university and scholarship application process. They help students:
- Navigate applications and meet eligibility requirements.
- Write and refine CVs, personal statements, and scholarship essays.
- Conduct Mock Interviews to prepare for actual scholarship interviews.
- Communicate with universities and scholarship boards.
- Boost their English language confidence to communicate better.
Mentors connect with their mentees primarily through WhatsApp Group, with support from an SFG organizer. They exchange documents, provide feedback, and ensure students stay on track. Mentors can also join weekly support calls with the organizing team for guidance.
Each mentor follows a structured set of guidelines to assist students while maintaining professional and considerate relationship. Their role is not to complete applications for students but to empower them with the skills and confidence to do it themselves.

Become a Mentor
If you’ve been through the scholarship application process or have experience guiding others, you could make a huge impact! We especially need mentors who:
- Have studied STEM fields (Health, Medicine, Engineering, Computer Science)
- Hold a postgraduate degree.
- Have mentored someone before and succeeded

Help us pair students with the right mentors and ensure they get the support they need.
Join as an organizer
If you’re passionate about education and scholarships, we need volunteers with skills in:
- Scholarship Database management.
- Teaching English as a second language.
- Fundraising & marketing.

Every dollar goes directly to helping students. Here’s what your contribution can cover:
- Essential Documents: Transcripts, certificates, and other required paperwork
- English Test Fees: IELTS ($150), Duolingo ($70), TOEFL ($205)
- University Application Fees: $50–$100 per application
- Internet & Electricity: Stable access is costly—some co-working spaces charge$150/month
- Admin costs
